AI Assistant
How PurposeTech's built-in AI helps you write emails, find volunteers in plain English, and draft onboarding forms — with opt-in controls and usage visibility.
What the AI assistant does
PurposeTech has an AI assistant built into the places where it saves you the most time — writing emails, searching your volunteers, and drafting onboarding forms. It works on your data, in your admin, and everything it produces is a draft for you to review before it goes anywhere.
AI features are opt-in per organisation, so nothing is switched on without your say-so.
Write emails with AI
Inside the email editor, the assistant can draft a message from a short instruction. Describe what you need — "a friendly reminder for volunteers with a shift tomorrow, include their site and start time" — and it writes the subject line and body for you, complete with the right merge tags.
Kia ora {{firstName}},
Just a quick reminder that your Pink Ribbon Appeal shift is on tomorrow at {{siteName}}, starting at {{startTime}}. Your site coordinator will be there to greet you and hand out your collector kit.
No need to bring anything – just wear comfy shoes and your best smile. If something's come up and you can't make it, flick us a reply so we can fill your spot.
Ngā mihi nui, and thanks for giving your time.
The Pink Ribbon team
You can regenerate, edit freely, and insert the result into a template. Merge tags like firstName, siteName and startTime are filled in per recipient when the email sends.
Treat AI drafts as a first pass. Tweak the tone, double-check the details, and make it sound like your organisation before you send.
Find volunteers in plain English
Instead of stacking up filters, you can describe who you're looking for. Type something like "area coordinators in Auckland who haven't finished onboarding" and the assistant turns it into the right filters and shows the matching volunteers.
| Name | Area | Onboarding | |
|---|---|---|---|
AN Aroha Ngata | Ponsonby | Incomplete | |
JW James Whitfield | Devonport | In review | |
MP Mereana Pohatu | Manukau | Incomplete | |
DC Daniel Cooper | Henderson | Incomplete | |
PN Priya Naidu | Mt Eden | In review |
The filters it generates are shown as chips, so you can see exactly how your request was interpreted and adjust from there. It's the quickest way to answer a one-off question without learning where every filter lives.
Draft onboarding forms
The assistant can also build a complete onboarding form from a description — fields, types and validation included — ready for you to refine and publish per campaign.
Match your website's branding
Point PurposeTech at your existing website and the AI captures a real snapshot of the rendered page, then extracts a matching header, footer and styles for your volunteer site — no hand-written HTML required. See Email & Messaging for how to generate and refine it.
Opt-in and usage
You stay in control of AI across your organisation:
- Opt-in per organisation — AI features are off until an admin turns them on.
- AI Usage tab — a dedicated view shows what's being used and where, so there are no surprises.
- Billed at cost — AI usage is passed through transparently rather than marked up.
AI-generated content — including email output — is sanitised before it's stored or sent, and the platform runs a Content Security Policy across tenants. AI helps you work faster; it doesn't loosen your security.
