What is PurposeTech?
PurposeTech is volunteer and crew management for events: sign-up and rostering so every shift is filled. Volunteers and crew find a site and book a shift on a page that carries the organiser's own branding and domain; coordinators manage sites, shifts, rosters and emails from one admin portal, with live dashboards and a two-way Salesforce sync. It works beside the ticketing, registration and fundraising platforms an event already uses, and does not replace them. It is built in New Zealand by Purpose Tech Limited, founded in 2021.
What is PurposeTech?Who is PurposeTech for?
Organisers of events that run on volunteers and crew, mainly in New Zealand and Australia: charities, event companies, charity event series and councils. That covers runs, walks and challenges, festivals and community events, tours and open days, clean-ups and planting days, and street appeals. Organisers who run many events a year get one roster across all of them, and paid and volunteer crew can share it. A charity running one large event is just as welcome. Customers include Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, which runs the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal on PurposeTech across 1,000+ collection sites, Child Cancer Foundation and Assistance Dogs NZ Trust.
Case studiesDoes PurposeTech replace our ticketing or fundraising platform?
No. PurposeTech does not sell tickets, take payments or run peer-to-peer fundraising. It handles volunteer and crew sign-up and rostering, and works beside the platforms you already use for those things. Crew and volunteer lists import and export as CSV. PurposeTech has no pay rates, timesheets or payroll, so paid crew can share a roster with volunteers but are paid through your own process.
For organisers running many eventsHow much does PurposeTech cost?
The Growth plan is NZD 450 a month or NZD 4,500 a year and includes 1,500 active volunteers; above that, volume pricing starts at NZD 1.50 per volunteer and falls as numbers grow. Enterprise is priced for each organisation, from NZD 15,000 a year with campaign setup included. Campaign setup and support is a paid service from NZD 2,500. Only volunteers confirmed on a shift count: cancellations and duplicates are not charged. No credit card is needed to get started.
PricingHow does PurposeTech compare with Rosterfy or Better Impact?
PurposeTech publishes its prices in NZD and is set up with you on an onboarding call rather than through a sales process; Rosterfy and Better Impact quote prices on request. PurposeTech is built for appeal-day and event work – hundreds of sites, short shifts and area coordinators. Better Impact is a long-established volunteer management system priced on volunteer caps and admin seats, and Rosterfy is an enterprise event-workforce platform. Compare platformsWhere is volunteer data hosted?
The platform database runs on Neon in Amazon Web Services' Sydney region (ap-southeast-2), and AI processing, logs and uploaded files use AWS in the same region. Some supporting services, such as email delivery and payments, are based in the United States. Every sub-processor, what it handles and where, is listed on the sub-processors page.
Sub-processorsHow is the platform secured?
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, staff and coordinators get role-based access, and volunteers sign in without passwords. PurposeTech processes volunteer data on the customer's behalf under a published Data Processing Agreement, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. PurposeTech holds no formal security certifications yet. Security issues can be reported to security@purposetech.io.
